Seahawks Week 14

The Seattle Seahawks take on the St. Louis Rams in the prime time matchup on Monday Night Football. The last time the St. Louis Rams squared off with the Seattle Seahawks, the NFC West title and a berth in the playoffs were on the line.

Now the Seahawks move onto another prime time game this week, taking on the St Louis Rams on Monday Night Football. These 2 teams will have played each other twice in 18 days as the Seahawks came out victorious in the first meeting.

Reviewing the Eagles Game

THE GOOD:

The Seahawks held the Eagles to a 25% third down conversion rate.
The defense allowed less than 200 yards passing.
The Seahawks only had 5 penalties for 30 yards in the game.
The Seahawks did not turn the ball over and came up with four interceptions. Brandon Browner had 2, Kam Chancellor picked off 1 and David Hawthorn had a pick six.
Tarvaris Jackson went 13/16 on the day.
Marshawn Lynch was only 4 yards shy of him career best gaining 148 thursday. He also added a pair of touchdowns.
The 12th man came out and made an impact on the game.

THE BAD:

The timing at the start of the game was off and the raising of the 12th man flag wasn’t until after the opening kick off.
The Seahawks managed just 173 yards through the air.
A lot of fans left early.

A look at the Rams

St. Louis has anything but a high powered offense. They are ranked 28th (185.4 ypg) through the air and 27th (98.6 ypg) on the ground.

Passing Leader: Sam Bradford (#8) 1971 yards 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions
Rushing Leader: Steven Jackson (#39) (who has never rushed for 100 yards against the Seahawks) 832 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Receiving: Brandon Lloyd (#83) 430 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Rams defend the pass well ranking 8th in the NFL (208.4 ypg) but are terrible against the run ranking dead last in the NFL (32nd with 157.8 ypg)

Can the Rams stop Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks Rushing attack?
How will the Seahawks offensive line hold up after another starter (Russell Okung) was lost for the season.
Can the Seahawks continue to contain Steven Jackson.

Weekly roster moves

Seahawks place LT Russell Okung on IR. This move caused a major shakeup on the offensive line. Paul McQuiston moves from RG to LT and Lemuel Jeanpierre will start at RG to fill in for McQuistan.
Seahawks added RB Jay Finley and LB Keith Darbut to the Practice Squad
Seahawks Re-sign G Mike Gibson

Keys to a Seahawks victory

Dominate the running game on both sides of the ball.
Frustrate Chris long: use running backs, tight ends and even double teams to keep him away from Jackson.
Take care of the football. The Seahawks are the better team and the only way they should lose this game at home is turning the ball over.
